Dear friends of the Association of Evangelical Schools in Lebanon,

Even as I write these words now, I still find it hard to believe the
sad news of the passing away of our executive committee member
Mrs. Leila Saleeby Dagher.

Ms. Saleeby Dagher was one of the pillars of the Association of
Evangelical Schools in Lebanon for more than 15 years, and she surely was a pillar of the
school she represented, the National Protestant College. It is hard to
imagine how our meetings will be like without her light presence, her
smile, and her unparalleled sense of humor.

Our dearest Leila spread love, compassion, joy, laughter, wherever she
was. If we, her friends and colleagues, feel shattered by her sudden
departure from this world, I cannot imagine what her family must be
feeling. We, members of the board of the AESL and all evangelical school principals , extend our deepest
sympathies to her children Nicholas and Rouaida.

The role that she played at the AESL, was one of the numerous roles
that Ms. Saleeby Dagher had since she graduated from the American
School for Girls, the mother institution from which grew the Lebanese
American University.

Everyone who knew her, admired how Ms. Saleeby Dagher spent her life
serving her alma matter. For many years she played key roles
recruiting alumni and fundraising for the college, and she did a
brilliant job as the director of Alumni Relations, director of Public
Relations, director of Admission, and member of the Board of
International Advisors.

After retiring, she was appointed and elected as President of the
Alumni Association of LAU until October 2014. She also served on
different councils and committees at LAU, as well as the Young Women
Christian Association, and the National Evangelical Church.

With her passing away, AESL lost a devout leader and a dedicated
member of the Evangelical family in Lebanon. Her footprints are found
along every step of the way as the legacy of LAU and the various
Evangelical associations and institutions that she served. Our long
journey working together for the future generations of Lebanon comes
to a sudden end. But I am sure that Leila is in a better place. May
her soul rest in peace and may the Lord comfort her loved ones and

Each school year brings its share of concern and anxiety, for both the parents and the children. This year isn’t an exception with the transmission of the covid-19 virus, but BESGB’S desire & wish are stronger than ever to start an educational and social year.
The back to school blended plan and the social distancing made it possible to discover a new and a safe school come-back. The smiles on the KG1's faces today strengthen the idea of carrying on our educational mission in utmost serenity. Wish you all a fruitful year!
